11 Legendary players who never won an ICC World Cup

8. Brian Lara

Brian Lara

Former legendary cricketer Brian Lara was one of the pillars of West Indies cricket. When we hear his name, the first thing that comes to our mind is his top knock of 400* in Test cricket. He is also pretty good in ODI format. Back in those days, he single-handedly dominated the game as a batsman and as a captain.

Having played 299 ODIs in his career, he scored 10,405 runs. He was an important part of many World Cup squads from 1992 to 2007. He is also amongst the top-five highest run-scorers in the tournament’s history. Despite giving everything in his heydays, he could never lift the trophy.

He played as many as 34 games where he scored 1225 runs with a batting average of 42.24. Lara registered his best score of 116. The stylish left-handed batsman hammered 7 half-centuries and 2 centuries to his name. But the two-time champions, West Indies, could never get their hands on the trophy.
