The southpaw dasher from the Caribbean Islands was another shock after none of the franchises opened a bid for him at the IPL Auctions of 2021. Staged at a base price of Rs.1 crore, none of the franchises vested any interest in him even after his demonstrated batting exploits he is known for.
On his day, Lewis can rupture any bowling attack and his snub from the league was a rather baffling statement to many. Although he didn’t get a single game in IPL 2020 for Mumbai Indians, it was believed that a batsman of his calibre will indeed get a new franchise where he will be a regular incumbent.
But to his dismay and everyone’s shock, not even a single franchise ran after the opener and was one of the many upsets of the Auctions. The Caribbean’s are well known for their T20 fireworks and with one short from the galore of such players, IPL will be one less of a dasher this year.
