Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan has picked out five positives from an otherwise dismal campaign of the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League 2022. CSK entered the tournament as the defending champions but they were the 2nd team to crash out of the competition. Also, they finished 9th in the points table with only four wins and ten losses in fourteen league games.

The troubles began early for the Yellow Army this season as their new-ball pacer Deepak Chahar was injured ahead of the tournament. Later, their Kiwi pacer Adam Milne also got injured in the season opener against Kolkata Knight Riders and subsequently missed the whole season.

Moreover, the form of several players didn’t help the four-time champions’ cause. The Orange Cap winner from the last season, Ruturaj Gaikwad, had a horrible start to the season with the willow. The all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also lost his form with the bat and the ball under the pressure of the captaincy. Meanwhile, the likes of Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, and Shivam Dube had a start-stop kind of season and never picked the momentum.

However, despite all the issues, CSK also had several positives in their campaign. The way MS Dhoni showed glimpses of his old self and finished the games, sent the fans straight into nostalgia. Also, Mukesh Choudhary stepping up with the new ball in absence of Deepak Chahar is also commendable.

The left-handed pacer posted an Instagram video congratulating the Royals from Rajasthan for finishing among the top two to make it to Qualifier 1. He also picked the five biggest positives for the Chennai-based franchise. Pathan also Tweeted about the same.

As per Irfan Pathan, the likes of Maheesh Theekshana, Mukesh Choudhary, Simarjeet Singh, Matheesha Pathirana, and Devon Conway are the five biggest positives for CSK in the IPL 2022.
