“He has told management,” CSK official shares update on MS Dhoni’s future after IPL 2024
Fans are curious to know if MS Dhoni will play next in IPL 2025 or not.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) official on the condition of anonymity has chipped in with an important update with regards to MS Dhoni’s retirement. While speaking to TOI, the official disclosed that MS Dhoni has not told anyone in CSK that he is calling it quits from the IPL.
The cricket fraternity thought that the former CSK captain would draw curtains on his illustrious IPL career following CSK’s heartbreaking defeat to RCB. The yellow army were knocked out by RCB in the crucial match. The Bengaluru-based franchise made it to the playoffs and will take on Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator.
After CSK’s exit from the playoffs race, there were speculations of MS Dhoni quitting the IPL. However, it is quite clear that the senior pro hasn’t made any official confirmation regarding his retirement yet. He notified that CSK management that he will wait for a couple of months before taking a decision.
“Dhoni has not told anybody in CSK that he is quitting – he has told the management that he will wait for a couple of months before taking a final call,” a CSK official told the Times of India.

Here’s how MS Dhoni performed in IPL 2024
With age on his side, the 42-year-old veteran didn’t push his body too much in IPL 2024. The former CSK captain was seen batting down the order and looked in sensational touch with the bat. Dhoni maintained a a batting average of 53.67 and a strike rate of 220.55 including 14 fours and 13 sixes.
The Ranchi-born played memorable cameos for CSK this season. He has remained unbeaten on 8 occasions. Having faced 73 balls throughout the league season, he scored 161 runs and entertained the fans in the best scene. MS Dhoni once told that he would want to play his last game in Chennai.
Unfortunately, this season didn’t go in favour of him and the CSK. It remains to be seen whether or not MS Dhoni would play IPL 2025 but if he plays, it would be a perfect treat for the CSK fans.
