“I wouldn’t want to bowl against him, he’s scary,” Pat Cummins on Abhishek Sharma

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins has reserved the highest respect for Abhishek Sharma after the team’s 4-wicket win over Punjab Kings in Hyderabad on Sunday. While reflecting his thoughts at the post-match presentation, Pat Cummins said that he wouldn’t want to bowl against someone like Abhishek Sharma before labelling him “scary”.

Abhishek has made waves with the bat this season. The left-hander unleashed his fury by mustering 467 runs in 13 games at an average of 38.92 and a strike rate of 209.42. Pat Cummins has acknowledged Abhishek Sharma’s true potential at the post-match presentation.

“He (Abhishek Sharma) is amazing. I wouldn’t want to bowl against him. He’s scary,” Cummins said.

Abhishek Sharma has bettered his previous best record of 426 runs and 2 fifties which he scored in IPL 2022 season. In IPL 2024 season, he has surpassed his run-scoring tally and managed to hit 3 fifties. The 23-year-old youngster is expected to get better as the years progress. The Amritsar-born will be hoping to continue to deliver impactful performances.

SRH take on KKR in Qualifier 1

SRH captain couldn’t be any happier after his team squeezed six wins out of seven games at their fortress.

“It’s pretty cool, it’s awesome. We have won 6 out of 7 here, it has been great. I didn’t know many guys coming into this season, but we have played great cricket and had some fun,” Cummins said.

The 2016 IPL champions failed to qualify for the playoffs in the last three seasons. Nevertheless, they managed to turn things around in IPL 2024 and qualified for the playoffs. Moreover, they got a bit of fortune after RR vs KKR game was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain.
