IPL 2022: Harbhajan Singh backs Umran Malik to be part of India’s T20 WC squad

Indian Premier League is the biggest cricketing league in the world where the top stars across the globe gather for the T20 carnival. However, the league is also known to provide a platform for the youngsters to showcase their talent on the global level.

Superstars like Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Ravi Ashwin rose to prominence via regular performances in the IPL. Over the years, we have seen many young talents grabbing the opportunity and throwing their hat for contention in the Indian team.

In the IPL 2022, another youngster has been making giant strides towards the coveted blue jersey. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s young pacer Umran Malik has garnered enough limelight with his pace to attract attention. With the T20 World Cup in the hindsight, selectors are keeping a keen eye on the Indian talent and their performances.

Umran Malik has been the talk of the town in the IPL as the youngster has been clocking over 150 kmph regularly. Moreover, he recently stunned Punjab Kings with a triple-maiden over to win the player of the match award.

Harbhajan Singh wants selectors to pick Umran Malik for the T20 World Cup

Harbhajan Singh was talking Star Sports after Punjab Kings’ innings when he backed the youngster to wear the India jersey.

“This (Blue) is the only jersey missing and he should get it early. I feel he is the most deserving one who should be selected to play for India in that T20 World Cup in Australia. He could be your match-winner there,” he said.

Umran Malik made his debut for the Orange Army last season. The Sunrisers Hyderabad showed immense faith in the youngster and retained him ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auctions for an amount of INR 4 crore.

Malik hasn’t let them down with his performances this season as the express pacer has scalped 9 wickets in 6 matches at an average of 22.33.
