IPL 2022: R Ashwin bamboozles Andre Russell for a golden duck, goes on a celebratory run

Rajasthan Royals spinner R Ashwin produced a game-changing delivery as he dismissed dangerous Andre Russell for a golden duck. On Monday, Rajasthan Royals were up against Kolkata Knight Riders in the 30th match of the IPL 2022. Kolkata Knight Riders were on the course to complete a stupendous chase before the veteran off-spinner tilted the balance in Rajasthan’s favour with a magic delivery.

Chasing a total of 218, the Knight Riders laid a solid foundation courtesy of the twin fifties from Aaron Finch and Shreyas Iyer. While Finch got out after scoring 58 runs off 28 deliveries, the skipper kept things together at one end. Nitish Rana played a bright cameo but Yuzvendra Chahal outfoxed him.

However, Kolkata Knight Riders were ahead in the game as Andre Russell joined his skipper in the middle. At that point, the two-time champions needed 68 runs in 7 overs with seven wickets in hand.

The off-spinner produced the moment of the night as he dismissed ‘Dre Russ’ for a golden duck. It was the most-prized wicket for Rajasthan Royals, came at the right time. R Ashwin came from wide angle and bowled a carrom ball that straightened enough to beat the outside edge. Russell played it as normal off-spinner and got outfoxed completely. The ball whizzed past the and crashed into the off-stump of the all-rounder.

R Ashwin could not hide his emotions as the 35-year-old went of a celebratory run.

Rajasthan Royals registered the 4th win of the season, KKR sinks further

Rajasthan Royals have now won four games this season to climb to the 2nd place in the points table. The ‘team in pink’ has now four wins and two losses after six matches. On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders have slipped to the 6th place in the league standings. They now have three wins and four losses in seven matches, including three consecutive losses in the last three games.
