Sanju Samson should be groomed as next T20 captain for India: Harbhajan Singh

Sanju Samson has good chance of making into the T20 WC 2024.

Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh wants to see Sanju Samson leading the Indian T20 side once the current skipper, Rohit Sharma, steps down from the prestigious position.

Harbhajan took it X (formerly Twitter) to praise Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter Yashasvi Jaiswal for his blistering hundred against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Monday, April 22.

In the same tweet, the former off-spinner stated that Samson should be heading to the T20 World Cup 2024. He also advised the Indian management to groom the 29-year-old as the new skipper for the T20I format.

Samson scored an unbeaten 38 off just 28 balls, including two fours and as many sixes to take the team home. With their latest win, the Rajasthan-based franchise are atop of the points table with 14 points in eight games. The ‘Halla Bol’ franchise will next lock horns with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in an away fixture on Saturday (November 27).

Will Sanju Samson earn a spot for the mega-event?

Rohit Sharma & Co. will have to take a tough call of selecting the wicketkeeper batters for the T20 World Cup 2024. The likes of KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, Dinesh Karthik, and Rishabh Pant are the top contenders.

It will be a good headache for the Men in Blue as all these players have shown top form in the ongoing IPL season. If we talk about Samson specifically, he has notched up 300+ runs for the eighth consecutive time.

The right-handed batter has 314 runs in eight innings, averaging 62.80 and striking at 152.43. He has already smashed three fifties apart from leading his team exceptionally well.
