Nothing has been working for the Chennai Super Kings this season. Their road to the playoffs is getting tougher with each passing day as the men in yellow are placed 9th in the points table with only a single win and five losses after six matches. They must win seven of the remaining eight fixtures to reach the playoffs. At the same time, it is not an impossible task but a tough one, given the bowling resources they have at their disposal.

The Super Kings dealt with a body blow earlier as their star pacer Deepak Chahar was ruled out of the tournament with an injury. The defending champions are struggling badly to get wickets in the power play this season. However, they still had the Kiwi pacer, Adam Milne, in their ranks. The pacer featured in CSK’s season’s opening game against Kolkata Knight Riders. However, the Kiwi had to leave the ground after bowling 2.3 overs courtesy of an injury.

The four-time champions received their 2nd injury blow this season as Adam Milne could also be ruled out of the tournament. It is a significant blow for the Super Kings as they are short of the options to bowl with the new cherry.

“Milne is recovering, but we do not by when he will be fully fit. It could take a week or two. But it will depend on the progress of his recovery. At this moment, we are hopeful that he will be able to return,” a CSK official said to Inside Sport.

“We can only seek a replacement when the team management gets back to us. So far, there is no one who can be as effective as Deepak. His effectiveness in the powerplay is second to none, and he can add depth with the bat.

“We do not have any Indian option at the moment. We are waiting for Adam Milne’s recovery progress and then take a call soon,” concluded the top CSK official upon the condition of anonymity.
