CSK are well known for being consistent with their players.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have a massive fan-following all across the world. Led by MS Dhoni from the front, the yellow army have produced so many memorable moments for the fans. They have been the second-most successful team in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
MS Dhoni-led team are just one trophy away from levelling Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians. MI won as many as five titles so far. Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2021 final and went on to win their fourth title.
Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) asked all the existing eight clubs to submit the list of players that they were going to retain ahead of the IPL 2022 auction. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings retained four players.
The yellow brigade were quite clear in terms of retaining the right players ahead of the mega auction. CSK have retained Ravindra Jadeja (Rs 16 crore), MS Dhoni (Rs 12 crore), Moeen Ali (Rs 8 crore) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (Rs 6 crore).
CSK have Rs 48 crore left in their wallet. They have pulled off superb deals in the auctions over the years. For sure, they will look to sign the top players that suit their philosophy. Now, in this article, we will take a look at the five former CSK players the defending champions can target in the mega auction.
5. Deepak Chahar
Deepak Chahar is one of the deadliest weapons in the powerplay overs. The classical swing bowler literally knows how to deceive the batsmen with his tricky deliveries. It is the reason why he has been accounting for dismissals in crucial situations.
Chennai Super Kings have released the pacer ahead of the IPL 2022 auction. However, the four-time IPL champions would surely target him in the auction. Chahar has played 63 games in the IPL where he took 59 wickets to his name including 2 four-wicket hauls.
Apart from his impressive bowling skills, he is good at swinging the blade as well. Although he has scored a fifty in 5 ODIs, he is yet to get enough game time to bat for CSK. Hopefully, when the situation demands, he will look to showcase his mettle.
