IPL 2021: 5 unsold players who can be picked later in the tournament
Marnus Labuschagne
Australian cricketer Marnus Labuschagne hogged the limelight when he ended up as the leading run-scorer of the Border Gavaskar Trophy series 2020-21. The right-handed batsman had every possible solution to India’s bowling attack. The 26-year-old aggregated as many as 426 runs in 4 matches including 2 fifties and a century.
He registered his best score of 108 and maintained the best average of 53.25. The Brisbane Heat batsman had earlier expressed his desire to take part in the Indian Premier League. Marnus labelled IPL as “great competition”. Ahead of the mini-IPL auction in Chennai, he said he would want to throw his name into the hat and further added that he would love to be a part of it.
The newcomers namely Marnus Labuschage, Jhye Richardson, Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell marked in the INR 2 crore base price bracket – the highest among the players from Down Under. However, apart from Marnus, all others were purchased by IPL teams. It will be quite interesting to see if any of the franchise show interest to rope in this player later on.
