On Sunday, the BCCI announced the 18-member squad for the five-game T20I series against South Africa. While youngsters like Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik earned their maiden national call-up, SRH batter Rahul Tripathi has been ignored once again.

KL Rahul will lead the Indian side against the Proteas in the five-game T20I series post the Indian Premier League 2022. Meanwhile, another senior opener Shikhar Dhawan, who lead the Indian side against Sri Lanka, hasn’t been picked despite having a decent season with the bat.

On the other hand, names like Deepak Hooda, Ravi Bishnoi, Axar Patel, and Rishabh Pant have retained their place in the squad.

Rahul Tripathi fails to make the cut

The right-handed batter once again got unlucky as his name is not there in the T20I squad. The Sunrisers Hyderabad batter has been their best batter this season with 393 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of over 161.

Meanwhile, some underperformers in the current edition of the IPL, including Ishan Kishan, Venkatesh Iyer, and Ruturaj Gaikwad have managed to retain their place in the T20I squad. Talking about the old faces, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, and Avesh Khan have been entrusted with their services.

At the same time, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Dinesh Karthik have made their return to the T20I series against South Africa.
