Amit Mishra has been plying his trade in the IPL since the inaugural edition and has represented multiple franchises including Delhi Capitals, Deccan Chargers (now-defunct), Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Lucknow Super Giants (at present).

LSG retained the 41-year-old ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, in what could well be his farewell season. Mishra who was the first player in IPL history to take 3 hat-tricks has taken 173 wickets in 161 appearances in the tournament.

After winning the fifth IPL title, MS Dhoni said circumstantially, it was the best time to announce retirement. However, given the unconditional love he received from the fans, he has expressed interest in repaying the fans as a gift by playing one last time.

The 42-year-old has nothing to prove as he has won everything as a captain in India’s premier T20 competition. Under his captaincy, CSK became an incredible force to be reckoned with, winning five titles and two Champions League T20 titles.
