Things have been tough for Delhi Capitals this season. They were up against Lucknow Super Giants in the 45th match of the Indian Premier League 2022 on Sunday. Lucknow Super Giants handed over a 6-run defeat to Delhi Capitals as the latter failed to chase a total of 196 in a nail-biting thriller. While the loss itself is a tough pill to swallow for the Delhi-based franchise, Prithvi Shaw has also been fined for not following the IPL’s code of conduct.

Meanwhile, the right-handed batter also has admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction imposed by the disciplinary committee.

Prithvi Shaw is fined 25 percent of the match fee

“Prithvi Shaw from Delhi Capitals has been reprimanded and fined 25 percent of his match-fee for breaching the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Lucknow Super Giants at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.”

“Mr Shaw admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” the official statement from IPL read.
Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw has had a decent season with the bat so far. He has amassed a total of 259 runs in 9 matches at a strike rate of 159.87. However, he once again has failed to stay consistent throughout the season.
However, the same can’t be said for Delhi Capitals. The Delhi-based franchise has managed four wins and five losses in nine matches. They currently sit sixth in the league standings and must win at least four games out of the remaining five to qualify for the playoffs. They will be facing Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next game on May 5th.
On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants have reached closer to the playoffs as they sit 2nd in the points table with seven wins and three losses after ten games.
