IPL 2022: Ishan Kishan smashes the boundary ropes in anger after getting out against LSG
Mumbai Indians opener Ishan Kishan was visibly frustrated after getting out against Lucknow Super Giants. The left-handed southpaw smashed the boundary ropes with his bat on the way out.
It was a must-win game for Mumbai Indians as they entered the arena with five consecutive defeats in five matches. Their skipper won the toss and invited Lucknow Super Giants to bat first. However, things didn’t go as per plan as the opening duo of Quinton de Kock, and KL Rahul stitched a fifty-plus partnership for the first wicket.
KL Rahul displayed his ‘KLass’ to the world once again as the stylish batter notched up his third hundred in the IPL. With some useful contributions from Manish Pandey and Deepak Hooda, LSG posted a massive total of 199/4 in 20 overs.
Mumbai Indians required a solid start from their openers to chase down such a big total. However, the opening combination of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan once again failed as Avesh Khan dismissed the Indian skipper early in the innings.
Dewald Brevis joined Kishan in the middle and started a counterattack. While ‘Baby AB’ was aggressive in his approach, Kishan was trying to be conservative and looked to work the ball around. Meanwhile, Brevis failed to hang around the senior pro and got out of the second-last delivery of the powerplay.
Ishan Kishan gets clean bowled, smashes the boundary ropes in anger
KL Rahul called all-rounder Marcus Stoinis to bowl the 7th over of the innings. Ishan Kishan defended the first delivery back to the bowler, but he got out on the 2nd delivery. Kishan was trying to work a slower delivery from Stoinis to the leg side for a single. However, the ball took an inside edge, and Ishan heard a death rattle behind him.
Kishan could only manage 13 runs off 17 deliveries and was visibly livid with himself. However, the left-handed southpaw failed to check his emotions on his way out to the dugout and smashed the boundaries with his bat.
