The Maharashtra-born cricketer Ruturaj Gaikwad is one of the talented batsmen in the Indian Premier League. Chennai Super Kings did the right job by retaining their talismanic batsman for Rs 6 crore ahead of the mega auction. Gaikwad has been one of the pillars of CSK’s batting unit.
The 25-year-old rose to the occasion when he scored a hat-trick of three fifties in IPL 2020 season. Chennai Super Kings ran through a torrid phase at that time and were hardly fighting a battle in that season. However, Gaikwad scored three half-centuries to help CSK get rid of a bottom-place finish.
CSK finished seventh on the table. Gaikwad continued his rich vein of form in IPL 2021 season. He finished the season as the leading run-scorer. The right-handed batter scored 635 runs at an average of 45.35 including 1 century and 4 fifties. He deservedly won the Orange Cap.
