IPL 2022: Chennai Super Kings’ strongest XI after mega auction

Chennai Super Kings are one of the most powerful teams in the history of the Indian Premier League. Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been nothing short of a talisman and a cricketing brain. Under his tutelage, CSK were an incredible force to reckon with since the inception of the lucrative IPL.

MS Dhoni not only brought the best out of his players but also effectively made use of the resources to better effect. The captain has been with the team through thick and thin. CSK missed out on qualifying for the playoffs in the IPL 2020 season where they finished seventh on the points table.

However, CSK made a sensational comeback by raising their levels in the IPL 2021 season. They went all the way to the final and defeated Kolkata Knight Riders in the final. As a result, CSK won their fourth title. The defending champions will be eager to win one more title to match MI’s tally of 5 titles.

CSK retained Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali and Ruturaj Gaikwad. In fact, they have done good business at the auction where they tried their best to recreate their own team. However, at the same time, they failed to rope in players like Suresh Raina and Faf du Plessis. CSK signed 25 players including 8 from overseas where they spent 87.05 crore on the players.

Let’s take a look at Chennai Super Kings’ best playing XI after mega auction:

New Zealand international Devon Conway was one of the players who was bought by Chennai Super Kings on Day 2 of the mega auction. The left-handed batsman is known for his ability to score runs at the rate of knots. His international resume serves as a testament to the fact.

The southpaw has played 20 T20Is for the New Zealand national cricket team. The 30-year-old southpaw has aggregated 602 runs at a staggering batting average of 50.2. Moreover, the South Africa-born cricketer has maintained an impressive strike rate of 139.3.

CSK might have let go of Faf du Plessis but they have filled Devon Conway at the opener’s slot. Devon Conway would be more than happy to collaborate with Ruturaj Gaikwad. The left and right-hand opening combination seem to be the new formula for CSK in the next season.
