“Hope the fanbase and followers increased” – Kieron Pollard bashes Aakash Chopra sarcastically; deletes the tweet later
West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard has stirred the social media as he has taken a sarcastic dig at the former cricketer-turned-commentator, Aakash Chopra. The former West Indies skipper deleted the tweet later but it got too late by then as the fans already noticed and took a note of it.
While the motive behind Pollard’s tweet still remains unclear, it is speculated that Pollard came at Chopra because the former Indian opener heavily criticized the Mumbai Indians’ all-rounder after a flop show during the recently-concluded Indian Premier League.
The five-time champions Mumbai Indians had a season to forget in the IPL 2022 as they finished at the bottom of the league. While they failed as a unit to perform, Kieron Pollard’s poor run of form was the highlight of them all. The big West Indian only managed 144 runs in 11 innings at an underwhelming strike rate and subsequently was dropped from the playing XI towards the end of the season.
Kieron Pollard aims a dig at Aakash Chopra
Over the years, the all-rounder has been one of the most consistent performers for Mumbai Indians. However, during the 15th edition of the IPL, he never looked like the Kieron Pollard of the old. Hence, he received some harsh criticism from all corners.
In the deleted tweet, Pollard wrote a message for Aakash Chopra saying, “Hope the fan base and followers increased @cricketaakash… keep it flowing .. #t20.!!.”
Earlier, Aakash Chopra criticized Kieron Pollard for his form and his lack of intent during the IPL 2022. He also suggested that Mumbai Indians might release the all-rounder ahead of the next season to free some funds to buy more players.
“I think we have seen the last of Kieron Pollard. INR 6 crores will be released if they don’t retain him. I think they can let Murugan Ashwin (INR 1.6 crore) go as well. I am not sure about Jaydev Unadkat (INR 1.3 crore) but they can definitely say bye-bye to Tymal Mills (INR 1.5 crore),” said Aakash Chopra on his YouTube channel.
