Harbhajan Singh and Mohammad Amir engage in verbal battle on social media

A banter that turned into catfighting.

What started as a light-hearted banter between Harbhajan Singh and Mohammad Amir, turned into an ugly spat on social media. The duo was engaged in mudslinging on Twitter late Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, days after Pakistan’s win over India in the T20 World Cup.

The duel started with Harbhajan responding to a tweet by Mohammad Amir from October 25, where the latter had made fun of the former over Pakistan’s 10-wicket win over India. In response, Harbhajan Singh shared a video from the 2010 Asia Cup, where he had hit the winning runs for India against Pakistan off the bowling of Amir.

In reply, Mohammad Amir hit back at Harbhajan Singh with a video of a 2006 Test match in Lahore where Shahid Afridi had hit Harbhajan for four consecutive sixes to tear apart India’s bowling.

Harbhajan Singh, in reply, digs deep to remind Mohammad Amir of his involvement in the 2010 spot-fixing scandal in the Lord’s Test against England.

“Lords mai no ball kaise ho gya tha ?? Kitna liya kisne diya ? Test cricket hai no ball kaise ho sakta hai ? Shame on u and ur other supporters for disgracing this beautiful game (“How was there a no ball at Lord’s? How much did you take (and) who paid you? How can someone deliver a no ball in Test cricket?”),” Harbhajan Singh wrote on Twitter.

He continued the disgraceful rant against Mohammad Amir in a couple of more tweets.

Mohammad Amir continued the duel further bringing up Harbhajan Singh’s bowling action, which was once touted as illegal. However, it was later cleared by the ICC.

Speaking of cricket, Pakistan have won both their games so far to take one step closer to the ICC T20 World Cup semifinals. On the other hand, India will hope to bounce back when they play New Zealand on Sunday.
