Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has opined that the RCB could lift their maiden IPL trophy this season. He also added that he has a gut feeling that the Bangalore-based franchise have the squad to go all the way this time around.

Royal Challengers Bangalore are the three-time runners up in the Indian Premier League but they are yet to win a title. The last time they reached the final of the mega-tournament was in 2016 when they lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Moreover, they have reached the playoffs in the last two seasons, losing the Eliminator both times. However, this time around, they managed to clear the Eliminator hurdle by defeating Lucknow Super Giants by 14 runs.

On Friday, RCB will square off against Rajasthan Royals in the 2nd Qualifier of the IPL 2022 and the winner of this contest will book the date with Gujarat Titans in the Final on Sunday.

Harbhajan Singh backs RCB to win the IPL 2022

Previewing the 2nd Qualifier, the Turbanator told Sportskeeda that not only the Faf du Plessis’s side has the potential to reach the final but to win the tournament as well.

“This RCB team has very good players. When you see their batting line-up or bowling line-up, there are players who can win the trophy for them. I have a gut feeling that RCB will go all the way this season. And if they do, they’ll probably lift the cup,” said Harbhajan Singh.

The legendary off-spinner also urged RCB to continue playing with the same intensity while pointing out they will be dangerous for the opposition as they are coming from behind.

“RCB need to continue having the faith and belief that they can do it. They have got the team. They just have to come and play like one unit. It will come down to the individuals – how badly they need it (victory). They need to approach it (Qualifier 2) as another game. Remember, they have come from behind and it is difficult to stop a team that has come from behind,” concluded Harbhajan Singh.
