Once a promising all-rounder, Vijay Shankar hasn’t been at his best in the last few seasons. A solid middle-order batter and a handy medium-pace bowler, Shankar adds a lot of value to any team if he is in form. The new entrants Gujarat Titans spent INR 1.4 crore in hopes of solid returns from the all-rounder.

However, the 31-year-old failed miserably in both departments, as Shankar could only manage 19 runs in 4 matches. Meanwhile, he had a negligible impact with the ball as well after failing to bag any wickets. Subsequently, Vijay Shankar was dropped from playing XI.

Gujarat Titans somehow filled the gaps in their middle order but this time around, they will be looking to sign a reliable player. Hence, in all probability, the defending champions can release Vijay Shankar and reinvest the amount in a more suitable option.
