5 Indian cricketers who may retire from Tests soon
4. Hanuma Vihari
Hanuma Vihari is known for his gritty batting approach. Nevertheless, he is currently out of favor with the selectors. His last Test came against England back in July 2022, and since then, he has not been picked for the team. The 30-year-old may still have a few years of cricket left in him, but with the Indian middle order being packed with strong names, his chances of making a comeback are slim. Unless he can pull off some outstanding domestic performances, he might find himself out of the Test setup permanently.
5. Umesh Yadav
At 37, Umesh Yadav is nearing the twilight of his cricketing career. His last Test appearance came in the WTC 2023 final against Australia. The right-arm fast bowler who took 170 wickets in 57 Tests has been a reliable performer, especially on Indian pitches.
On the other hand, his age makes it tough for him to maintain his place in the squad. The Indian selectors have already turned towards newcomers as India looks to build a long-term pace attack for the future. As a result, it is possible that the Nagpur-born may soon retire from Test cricket.
