The Trent Bridge Test between England and India has been well and truly entertaining. Both the teams are giving absolutely everything in a bid to outsmart the other. It is fair to say that India played much better in the first innings when compared to England cricket team.
Indian seamers executed their plans to perfection. Jasprit Bumrah took 4 wickets while Mohammed Shami took three wickets. Shardul Thakur picked 2 wickets while Mohammed Siraj had just one wicket in his bag. England were bowled out for 183 in the first innings.
In response, Team India aggregated 278 in the first innings and stretched a good lead of 95 runs. KL Rahul was the pick of the batsmen of Team India as he scored 84 with the help of 12 fours. Ravindra Jadeja scored 56 with the help of 8 fours and a six.
Rohit Sharma showed a great deal of patience at the top as he scored 36 including 6 fours. Jasprit Bumrah played quite well as he scored 28 off 34 balls including 3 fours and a six. England responded quite well by scoring 303 in the second innings. With this, they extended a lead of 208.
Mohammed Siraj’s fiery send-off to Jonny Bairstow goes viral
India’s paceman Mohammed Siraj is someone who displays raw emotions on the field. The 26-year-old lost his cool not once but on a couple of occasions during the first Test against England in Trent Bridge. Siraj who took one wicket in the first innings went on to take two wickets in the second innings.
In the first innings, he dismissed Zak Crawley. As far as the second innings is concerned, he dismissed Rory Burns and Jonny Bairstow. However, things turned a tad nasty after he got rid of dangerous Jonny Bairstow. The right-handed batsman was looking set to play shots with ease.
Siraj bowled a tricky shot-pitched ball which tempted that batsman to play against it. However, as it happened, Ravindra Jadeja took a brilliant catch in the leg side near the boundary. Siraj’s celebration after dismissing Bairstow gave birth to critics on the micro-blogging Twitter platform.
