Watch: Lockie Ferguson breaks Ambati Rayudu”s bat with a scorching yorker

New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson has emerged as the Gujarat Titans’ bowling leader alongside Mohammad Shami. He has been pacy and accurate at the same time to trouble the batters.

His skills were once again on display in the game between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans. In one such instance, Lockie Ferguson broke Ambati Rayudu’s bat with a fierce and pacy yorker. It was a rare sight in the game, given the improved quality and the increased width of the cricket bats these days.

On Sunday, Chennai Super Kings locked horns with the new entrants Gujarat Titans in the 29th match of the IPL 2022. The Titans invited the four-time champions to bat first after winning the toss.

Gujarat Titans removed Robin Uthappa and Moeen Ali early, but Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ambati Rayudu stitched up a crucial partnership to bring their side back in the game.

Lockie Ferguson breaks Ambati Rayudu’s bat

The Kiwi pacer came to bowl the 13th over of the CSK’s innings. On the 3rd delivery of the over, Lockie Ferguson speared a scorching yorker towards Ambati Rayudu’s toes. The batter advance and managed to block the delivery in time. However, the bowl hit the toe end of the Rayudu’s bat, and a wooden piece flew off from the stick.

The Titans are currently battling with the Super Kings for their 5th win of the season. Meanwhile, the Super Kings from Chennai are trying to bring their season back on track with the consecutive wins.

Batting first, Chennai Super Kings posted a total of 169/5 in 20 overs. At the time of the writing, the match is hanging in the balance with the Titans requiring 83 runs in 8 overs with David Miller batting after blasting a quickfire fifty.
