On Friday, the veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik reminded everyone of AB de Villiers with one of the shots he played off Dwaine Pretorius’ bowling. The right-handed batter was looking at peak of his prowess as the Tamil Nadu batter produced a ‘Man of the Match’ performance to win the game for India.
Former South Africa skipper AB de Villiers is very well regarded as the most innovative batter ever to grace the game of cricket. The legendary batter had an amazing ability to play sweep shots off the pace bowlers. In the game between South Africa and India on Friday, Dinesh Karthik replicated de Villiers’ shot as he swept Dwaine Pretorius for a maximum at the death to provide India with an explosive finish.

The veteran wicketkeeper-batter came to bat when India were in deep trouble at 81/4 in 12.5 overs. Early in his innings, Karthik played by taking singles and set his eyes in. Once he was set, he exploded by smashing boundaries continuously.
Meanwhile, Karthik had the best moment of his knock of Dwaine Pretorius‘ bowling. On the very first delivery of the 18th over, Dinesh Karthik swept the South African for a six over square leg. It was a full delivery outside the off stump and the veteran walked towards the off sat down and smoked Pretorius for a maximum.
