Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma unhappy with Rishabh Pant not complaining umpires about bad light

The umpires called off the day after that moment.

The second Test match between England and India at the Lord’s Cricket Ground turned out to be an entertaining package for the fans. Both teams are still in the fight in an attempt to take the first lead in the five-match Test series.

As the first Test ended in a draw, both teams are giving absolutely everything to come out on top. When Team India posted 364 with the help of KL Rahul’s 129 and Rohit Sharma’s 83, England also approached the game with grit and determination.

The hosts replied with 391 in the first innings. England’s Test captain Joe Root took the attack to India and went on to score a magnificent 180*. Unfortunately, he couldn’t score a double century after Indian bowlers took all the wickets.

England stretched a lead of 27 runs at the end of Day 3. On the following day, Team India lost the opening pair KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma early on. While the onus was on Virat Kohli to steer the team forward, he fell prey to Sam Curran’s bowling.

Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane stood at the crease and steadied the ship by scoring runs patiently. The duo batted around 50 overs and added a century partnership for the fourth wicket before Pujara was dismissed by Mark Wood on 45.

On the other hand, Ajinkya Rahane got out after scoring 61 as Moeen Ali dismissed him. Soon after his dismissal, Moeen Ali got rid of Ravindra Jadeja to put India in deeper trouble. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were left annoyed after the umpires allowed the play to continue despite the bad light at the Lord’s.

Rishabh Pant was supposed to inform the umpire about bad light but he didn’t. An over before the fourth day’s play came to a close, the umpires felt that the light dimmed in spite of the floodlights being turned on. The umpires also told Joe Root that he cannot bowl a fast bowler. As a result, he had to use spinners i.e. Moeen Ali and Root.

Moeen Ali who already got rid of Rahane and Jadeja bowled the 82nd over. At that time, Kohli and Rohit Sharma were caught signalling to the Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma. The senior cricketers asked them to complain to the on-field umpires about the bad light.

Somehow, Pant and Ishant managed to finish that over. After that, the umpires called off the day. Team India finished Day 4 with 181/6. Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma are batting on 14 and 4 respectively.
