As per the latest reports, India might be without the services of their star batter KL Rahul in the one-off Test match against England. The stylish lad from Karnataka might not participate in the rescheduled Test on the English soil next month courtesy of a groin injury. The same injury has ruled him out of the ongoing five-match T20I series against South Africa.

The national selectors rested some of the key players, including the skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah post-IPL as a part of the workload management. Subsequently, KL Rahul was handed over the captaincy baton for the T20I series against the Proteas. However, he suffered a groin injury on the eve of the bilateral series that ruled him out of it and Rishabh Pant got the chance to lead the Men in Blue.

KL Rahul is currently undergoing rehabilitation at NCA

As of now, KLR is undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, there is no clarity about his recovery period and when he will be able to return to the cricket field.

As per a report from Cricbuzz, “it is learnt that diagnosis of his complaint is not complete yet. Sources have indicated that his participation in the England series is doubtful but could not clarify if he will have to skip the white ball games as well.”

As per the report, it has also been learnt that the Indian team will fly off to England in two different batches. “The first batch of the Indian team will fly to England on Friday (June 16) and another batch, including coach Rahul Dravid, Pant and Shreyas Iyer, on June 20,” further added the report.

For those who don’t know, India are all set to play a Test match against England from the 1st of July to the 5th of July. This is the rescheduled Test from India’s tour to England earlier which was postponed owing to the COVID-19 cases in the Indian camp. Notably, India have an unassailable 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

Talking about KL Rahul‘s replacement, the selection committee might not pick any replacement as India already have Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill in the squad.
