“Matter of shame, players have respect” – Mohammed Shami slams Sanjiv Goenka, comes in support of KL Rahul
LSG's recent defeat to SRH put their playoffs chances at risk.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka recently made the headlines after he was spotted having an animated chat with skipper KL Rahul. The incident happened right after LSG surrendered at the hands of SRH in the recently-concluded encounter.
LSG were left clueless while defending the total as SRH aced the run-chase by 10 wickets. Following the team’s lackluster performance, Sanjiv Goenka was apparently expressing his anger at KL Rahul for the team’s overall performance.
Fans took to their social media handles to express their views. The majority of the netizens slammed Sanjiv Goenka for his attitude towards KL Rahul. Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami launched a scathing attack on the Lucknow-based franchise’s owner.
The Indian fast bowler has come out in support of the LSG captain by stating that players have respect in the first place. Shami made this statement during a recent interaction on Cricbuzz and his opinion became a major talking point on social media.
“Players have respect, and you are a respectful person, too, as you are an owner. Many people are watching you and learning from you. If these things happen in front of cameras… ye sharam ki baat hai. It’s a matter of shame,” said Shami during an interaction.
“If you have to do that, there are many different ways. You could’ve done the same thing in the dressing room or the hotel. It wasn’t necessary to do it on the field. Aise reaction dekar laal qile pe jhanda toh gaada nahi hai aapne (Translation: It isn’t as if you hoisted a flag at Red Fort by doing this),” he said.

IPL 2024 qualification scenario for Lucknow Super Giants
Lucknow Super Giants are currently sixth on the IPL 2024 points table with 12 points in 12 games. Their recent defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad has indeed put their playoffs hopes at risk now.
As a result, there is absolutely no margin for error for them from now on. They will have to win their next two matches in priority. Besides that, they will need either CSK or SRH to slip to have a chance in making the cut for the playoffs.
