Rajasthan Royals jokingly refers Parvez Rasool as Rohit Sharma on Twitter

Tabraiz Shamsi came as a replacement player.

The cash-rich IPL extravaganza is just hours away from getting underway in the United Arab Emirates. Initially, IPL 2021 was being played in India before the tournament was postponed due to Covid-19. As many as 29 games took place in India.

Since the tournament cannot be held in India for obvious reasons, the BCCI planned to organize the tournament in the UAE. The rest of the 31 fixtures will be played in UAE (Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah). The IPL 2021 final will come to a close on October 15.

Meanwhile, talking about the current season, Delhi Capitals are on top of the points table. Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians follow next on the table. Meanwhile, some players already opted out of the tournament due to international assignments and workloads.

Injuries to some players ruined the plans of quite a few teams. Among the teams, Rajasthan Royals were the most affected team this season because of the unavailability of overseas players. The Royals will miss the English trio comprising Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, and Jofra Archer.

Rajasthan Royals share a light moment on Twitter

The IPL 2008 champions roped in four overseas cricketers ahead of the UAE leg. They are none other than Evin Lewis, Oshane Thomas, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Glenn Phillips. Meanwhile, on Saturday, the Royals took to Twitter and welcomed South African left-arm wrist spinner Tabraiz Shami ahead of the second leg.

Nonetheless, the post had a subtle dig at Parvez Rassol. According to the post, the picture featured Rohit Sharma and Rajasthan Royals thanked the Mumbai Indians skipper. They tweeted, “Nice of @ImRo45 (Rohit Sharma) to join us today for Shamsi’s welcome.”

However, the picture depicted bowling all-rounder Parvez Rasool but RR Twitter admin had addressed him as Rohit Sharma. It is quite interesting to note that Parvez Rasool sports quite the same beard style as that of Rohit Sharma. Perhaps, the RR Twitter admin had a good time entertaining the fans.
