“Pure Destruction” – Jonny Bairstow sets Twitter on fire with a whirlwind fifty against RCB
The English batter Jonny Bairstow has come out to bat with some intent against RCB as the opener smashed a 21-ball half-century including six maximums.
On Friday night, Royal Challengers Bangalore are up against Punjab Kings in the 60th match of the IPL 2022 at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. It is a must-win game for Punjab Kings to stay alive in the competition, while RCB are trying to get closer to the playoffs with a vital victory.
Royal Challengers Bangalore’s skipper Faf du Plessis invited Anil Kumble’s men to bat first after winning the toss. However, the move didn’t work as Punjab Kings’ openers, Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow, came out with aggressive intent. The Englishman, in particular, took RCB‘s bowlers to the cleaners and smashed them all around the park.
Jonny Bairstow provided Punjab Kings with a desirable start in a must-win game
The English batter looked to attack the opposition from the very first over as he smashed Glenn Maxwell for a six in the opening over of the innings. From there, he just kept getting better and raced to a 21-ball fifty.
Jonny Bairstow and Shikhar Dhawan added 60 runs for the first wicket in five overs. Punjab Kings and Jonny Bairstow kept going from there as they finished the powerplay 83 runs for one wicket.
However, Royal Challengers managed to mount a mini-comeback post powerplay by scalping two quick wickets. The spinners took the charge in the middle overs as Wanindu Hasaranga outfoxed his Sri Lankan teammate Bhanuka Rajapaksa. Meanwhile, left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed earned the massive wicket of Jonny Bairstow.
Jonny played a brilliant knock of 66 runs of 29 deliveries, including four boundaries and seven maximums. At the time of the writing, Mayank Agarwal and Liam Livingstone are trying to resurrect the innings as Punjab Kings are 108/3 in 11 overs.
Meanwhile, fans could not stop themselves from praising Jonny Bairstow for a vital knock in a must-win game and took Twitter to express their views.
