Indian Premier League undoubtedly is the best and the biggest T20 league in the world, given the quality of the players, game, and competition. However, the umpiring standards in the IPL 2022 have been below-par and already have attracted numerous eyeballs courtesy of blunders on the field. More often than not, the umpires have taken shocking decisions in the high-tension moments, changing the complexion of the game. In the recently concluded SRH vs RCB game, the umpires made another massive blunder but it went unnoticed during the match.

On Sunday, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad locked horns in the 54th match of the IPL 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. RCB’s skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bat first. After losing their superstar Virat Kohli on the opening delivery of the game, Faf and Rajat Patidar stitched a solid partnership for the 2nd wicket.

Umpires missed the strike change in the SRH vs RCB game

During their partnership, Faf du Plessis and Rajat Patidar didn’t change the strike after the end of the 11th over and the on-field umpires missed it completely. Rajat Patidar took a single off Abhishek Sharma’s bowling on the last delivery of the 11th over and he was supposed to take the strike on the first delivery of the next over.

However, Faf du Plessis faced Kartik Tyagi on the first delivery of the 12th over instead of Patidar. The howler didn’t get any attention during the game but the fans pointed out the mistake on Twitter later.

Meanwhile, RCB posted a massive total of 192/3 in the end. Chasing the total, Sunrisers Hyderabad could never get off the blocks and were dismissed for 125 in 19.3 overs. The Royal Challengers Bangalore registered a vital 67-run win in the SRH vs RCB contest to affirm their position in the playoffs race. They will be up against Punjab Kings next on the 13th of May.
