Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has termed Faf du Plessis, the best captain in the IPL. Moreover, he has also added that RCB has a real chance to win the IPL for the first time, courtesy of du Plessis’ leadership.

Vaughan’s remarks came after Royal Challengers Bangalore stamped their authority over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Sunday game. The Bangalore-based franchise dismantled the Orange Army by 67 runs to cement their place at the fourth position in the league standings.

Moreover, the skipper Faf du Plessis led his team from the front with an enterprising knock, scoring unbeaten 73 runs off 50 deliveries.

Faf du Plessis is a magnificent thinker: Michael Vaughan

“I think he’s the best captain in the IPL. I just see him as a magnificent thinker, that’s both with the bat in hand and then when he gets out there as the leader. I love the way how he’s at long-off and just kind of maneuvers the team. He only comes in-field when there’s a review worth looking at. He’s got good combinations, a good attack but it’s just the way he uses them. He used all his bowlers inside the first 9-10 overs because he just wanted to make sure that the batters weren’t lining up any of them,” said Michael Vaughan while heaping praise on the former Proteas skipper.

The former cricketer-turned pundit also added that Faf’s experience playing for Chennai Super Kings and winning multiple IPL titles there has helped him lead the RCB.

“I have said it from the start, because of Faf, the RCB team this year have just got a great opportunity. Because you’ve got the tools and you’ve got a really clever cricket thinker, and he’s won it before quite a few times with Chennai, he knows how to win the IPL. He’s just got a different shirt on,” concluded Michael Vaughan.

Royal Challengers Bangalore now have seven wins and five losses after 12 games. They will qualify for the playoffs by winning the remaining two fixtures. But they have to wait for the other results if they win one and lose one.
