Punjab Kings are one of the original eight franchises that played the first-ever season in the Indian Premier League. Established as Kings XI Punjab in 2008, the franchise changed its identity ahead of the 14th edition of the marquee league in 2021.

In 2022, Punjab Kings are owned by KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited which is co-owned by Mohit Burman of Dabur India. Bollywood actress Preity Zinta alongside Ness Wadia of the Wadia’s group and Karan Paul are also the co-owners of the Punjab-based franchise. Mohit Burman holds the highest stake in the team with a 46% share, followed by Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia who own 23% share each. Meanwhile, Karan Paul also owns an 8% stake in the franchise.

Mohit Burman is a Delhi-based businessman who is a Director of Dabur India Ltd, one of the leading FMCG companies in the nation.

Ness Wadia is an Indian businessman and a part of the Wadia family. He is the managing director of Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation, a company that has major holdings in all of the subsidiaries of the Wadia Group, including an indirect major shareholding in the Britannia Industries.


Preity Zinta is a renowned Bollywood actress. In 2008, he was in a relationship with Ness Wadia when the couple bought the stakes in Punjab Kings.
