Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has backed the idea of including the spin-twin Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal in India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia. The legendary office also added that both spinners should not have been dropped from the team in the first place.

For the unversed, the duo of ‘Kul-Cha’ was a vital part of the Indian white-ball set-up a couple of years ago. Both spinners served as the attacking options in the middle overs. However, both Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal had a massive dip in their respective forms, and they were dropped from the Indian team. None of the wrist spinners was a part of the Indian team in the T20 World Cup 2021.

Meanwhile, Yuzi and Kullu have roared back to the form in the IPL 2022, as the duo is leading the list of the top wicket-getters in the ongoing season. While Yuzvendra Chahal is the current Purple Cap holder with 22 wickets in 11 matches, Kuldeep Yadav follows him in 2nd place with 18 wickets in 10 matches.

I don’t know why selectors broke the partnership of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal: Harbhajan Singh

As the spin-twin has gotten back to their best, many experts and fans are asking the selectors to bring the ‘spin-twin’ back to the Indian team. Bhajji also shares the same views, and he also has questioned the selectors for breaking the settled partnership.

“I don’t know why they (selectors) broke that partnership which was doing well for India. I certainly believe that you have to bring ‘Kulcha’ back, Kuldeep and Yuzvendra, I think they have been brilliant for Team India. When they played together, they took wickets in the middle overs, whether it was T20s, ODIs or any format, they played together, they were very successful,” said Harbhajan Singh at the launch event of Dream Set Go. The event was also attended by former Indian cricketer and Harbhajan’s former teammate VVS Laxman.

“It will be great to see them bowling in Australia, where the grounds are big and they both are quality bowlers. Their mentality is always to take wickets,” Harbhajan Singh concluded.

For those who don’t know, the T20 World Cup will be played in Australia later this year, and the Aussie pitches are not known for assisting the spinners much. Also, India prefers to play Ravindra Jadeja in white-ball cricket owing to his batting abilities. If Indian selectors bring back Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chala together, it would be interesting to see the composition of the Indian squad for the mega event.
