4. Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer does boast a great deal of captaincy experience in IPL. When he was retained by Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2019, he guided the team to the playoffs for the first time in seven years. In the subsequent season, he led the team to the maiden IPL finals.
However, they surrendered at the hands of Mumbai Indians in the 2020 showdown. He was roped in by KKR for INR 12.50 crore ahead of IPL 2022 but led KKR to a seventh-place finish. He missed IPL 2023 with a back injury and will return as KKR captain for IPL 2024.
3. Sanju Samson
What sets Sanju Samson apart from his counterparts is his potential to differentiate and demarcate both as a young captain, and someone who comprehends the nuances of the game. He has been one of the top captains for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their history.
While the Royals performed well in patches, their confidence levels also dwindled to a trickle. However, we rate Samson highly because he has steered the Royals to the finals of IPL 2022, which is only their second final since the inaugural edition.
