Taking over the reins from Virat Kohli is never easy and Faf du Plessis had the added burden straightaway on his shoulders when he took charge. Not even the experienced T20 campaigner Faf du Plessis was able to guide RCB to maiden silverware.

RCB made it to the finals on three occasions but lost all clutch games. Under Plessis’ captaincy, RCB qualified for the playoffs in 2022 and even knocked LSG out of the competition in the Eliminator but failed to make an impact in 2023 as they finished sixth. He will once again take charge of the franchise in the 2024 season.

The Bengaluru-born cricketer came under fire for his sub-standard captaincy when he plied his trade with Punjab Kings (PBKS). He neither had the tenacity to produce a spark in the team nor had the confidence to take the Mohali-based franchise forward.

Under his captaincy, the Punjab Kings failed to qualify for the playoffs and were clueless more often than not. However, his captaincy improved to a great extent when he joined Lucknow Super Giants wherein the team qualified for the playoffs in the last 2 seasons.
