Touted as the next big thing, Shahrukh Khan is one of the hottest properties in Indian domestic cricket. Punjab Kings broke the bank to secure his services for a whopping INR 9 crore in the auctions for IPL 2022.

Known for his finishing abilities and hard-hitting, Shahrukh Khan failed to deliver for Punjab Kings as he could only score 117 runs in 8 matches at an underwhelming strike rate of 108.33. Subsequently, he was dropped from the playing XI as Jitesh Sharma made the position his own.

Given his highly-expensive price tag, it seemed imperative that Punjab Kings would release the Tamil Nadu batter and try to sign him at a discount. However, the Mohali-based franchise has shocked everyone by not releasing him at all.
