Rajasthan Royals have a special admiration for the young all-rounder from Assam. They have invested a lot in Riyan Parag over the last few years and in 2022, they shelled out INR 3.8 crore to sign him.

However, Riyan Parag failed to perform as per the expectations as he scored only 183 runs in 17 matches at an average of 16.63 and a strike rate of 138.63. It’s certainly not enough for someone who is playing as the finisher. Furthermore, he was ineffective with the ball as well and picked up only one wicket in four innings.

Many believed Riyan Parag would be released ahead of the IPL 2023 given his expensive price tag. However, Rajasthan Royals have maintained their faith in the all-rounder’s capabilities and surprised everyone by retaining him.
