The English batter hasn’t featured in the Indian Premier League in his career. He is a classic batter and does not have a reputation for being a dangerous T20 batter.
But if you look at Joe Root’s numbers in T20Is, they tell a different story. He has scored 893 runs in 32 T20Is averaging 35.72 and a strike rate of 126.31. The Englishman is exactly the type of batter the Super Giants need at number three.
The calming presence of Joe Root will allow KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock to play aggressively at the top. Moreover, Deepak Hooda’s shift to number four will strengthen the middle over. And, Root will also give a handy off-spin option to the skipper. It wouldn’t be a surprise if LSG go after the former England skipper as he is likely to be available at a discounted price.
