Parthiv Patel’s top-five performing debutants in the Indian Premier League 2022

Tilak Verma

The teenager had a sensational season with the bat for Mumbai Indians. The left-handed youngster emerged as one of the few bright spots for the five-time champions in an otherwise disastrous season.

Verma finished his debut season as the top scorer for Mumbai Indians with 397 runs in 14 matches at an average of 36.09.

Jitesh Sharma

In a side filled with big-hitters from the top to the bottom, Jitesh Sharma’s performances went under the radar. However, Parthiv Patel’s eyes didn’t miss him as he picked the wicketkeeper among his top-performing debutants.

Jitesh Sharma played a number of explosive cameos for Punjab Kings lower down the order as the right-handed batter finished the season with 234 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of over 163.

Mohsin Khan

Probably, the most impressive left-arm bowler of the season – Mohsin Khan has earned praises from every corner of the cricketing realm. He was absolutely lethal for Lucknow Super Giants with the ball as the left-arm pacer accounted for 14 wickets in 9 matches.

The most impressive aspect of his bowling was his economy as Mohsin Khan maintained an economy of below six despite bowling in the powerplay and the difficult overs in the death as well.

Kuldeep Sen

A bowler with a big heart and a rapid pace – Kuldeep Sen had an impressive IPL debut with Rajasthan Royals. The right-handed pacer bowled consistently over 140 kmph and he is likely to hit the 150 kmph mark soon.

While he faded away a bit towards the latter stage of the competition, Kuldeep Sen managed to showcase his talent with 8 wickets against his name in 7 matches.

Mukesh Choudhary

The defending champions Chennai Super Kings had a season to forget after crashing out of the competition early. They lost their new-ball pacer Deepak Chahar ahead of the tournament and struggled to take wickets in the powerplay early on.

However, the introduction of Mukesh Choudhary added some firepower to their bowling as the left-arm pacer impressed everyone with his pace and swing with the new ball. The youngster accounted for 16 wickets in 13 games for CSK this season and he is likely to form a lethal new-ball partnership alongside Deepak Chahar next season.
