Another shocking omission in Team India’s squad was Sanju Samson. The selection of Ishan Kishan ahead of him is understandable but even Jitesh Sharma got the nod ahead of him as the wicketkeeper batter.

Samson has scored 374 runs in 21 innings at an average of 19.7 and a healthy strike rate of 133.6. Although his average isn’t up to the mark, one should remember that he has never got a long run in the side.

Considering his talent and striking ability, Samson should get a series of chances to prove himself on the international circuit. Once he gets comfortable, he can serve the national side for a long period of time in the white-ball cricket.
