Virat Kohli ends his almost three-year-long drought of an international century
The king is truly back to reclaim his throne. Finally, the moment arrived every Indian cricket fan was waiting for. Virat Kohli is back among runs and he is scoring them big. After a long wait, the Indian run machine scored an international century that was also his maiden century in the shortest format of the game. On Thursday evening, India were up against Afghanistan in the dead rubber of the Asia Cup 2022 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. After crashing out of the competition, both teams were playing for pride.
Afghanistan skipper Mohammad Nabi won the toss and invited the Men in Blue to bat first. In a surprise move, Indian skipper Rohit Kohli was resting and KL Rahul was leading the team. Virat Kohli came to open the batting for India alongside KL Rahul. The Indian duo began cautiously but soon up the ante and smashed the Afghan bowlers all around the park.

KL Rahul and Kohli added 119 runs for the first wicket before the former was holed on the long-on boundary after scoring 62 runs off 41 deliveries. Meanwhile, Virat continued to score runs and he really exploded towards the end. In the process, the run machine ended his drought of an international century and scored his maiden T20I century.
In the end, he remained unbeaten for 122 runs off 61 deliveries, including six maximums. His brilliant knock helped the Indian team in posting a mammoth total of 212/2 in 20 overs. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant remained unbeaten for 20 runs off 16 deliveries. The century will come as a relief not only for Virat Kohli but the team management and the millions of Indian cricket team fans across the globe.
With the T20 World Cup around the corner, it is a massive boost for Men in Blue to see their best batter back among the runs and his fluid best. Twitter was bound to explode as fans could not hide their emotions after Virat Kohli’s feat.
