The upcoming edition of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 is slated to be held Australia. The ICC event is less than four months away from getting underway. In fact, teams have plenty of time to figure out the strengths and weaknesses before heading into the marquee event.

West Indies are the most-successful team in the competition as they won two titles. On the other hand, India, Pakistan, England, Sri Lanka and Australia won a title each. Meanwhile, teams are shortlisting their players who are likely to feature in the next ICC event.

Just like every other nation, Team India is also trying their best to select the best candidates and give more opportunities to the deserving ones who are likely to be part of the final 15. It remains to be seen which players will be part of the reckoning for the event.

Ashish Nehra rules out Mohammed Shami’s chances for making it to T20 World Cup squad

Meanwhile, former Indian fast bowler Ashish Nehra is of the notion that Mohammed Shami will not make the cut in India’s T20 World Cup squad. However, the head coach of Gujarat Titans further added that Shami could be in for the scheme of things for the Men in Blue in next year’s 50-over World Cup that will take place in India.

“Seems like he doesn’t feature in the current scheme of things for the T20 World Cup. But we all know about his abilities. Even if he doesn’t play in this year’s T20 World Cup, India will definitely consider him for the 2023 World Cup at home. We don’t have many ODIs this year and Shami is on a break at the moment after the IPL. India can play him in England for the 50-over games after the Test match,” Nehra told Cricbuzz.

Mohammed Shami who made his debut for Team India in 2013 hasn’t played enough T20Is in his career. He has featured in just 17 T20Is. He was also not selected for the T20I series against South Africa.
