The leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is confident to break a major batting record set by Virat Kohli in the Indian Premier League. Chahal is having a gala time in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League for his new franchise Rajasthan Royals. The willy leggie is currently the Purple Cap holder with 24 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 16.83.

However, recently, Yuzvendra Chahal revealed that he was eying the Orange Cap instead. Rajasthan Royals ran a joke about Jos Buttler opening the batting alongside Chahal. The English wicketkeeper batter has been in a prime form this season. He is the Orange Cap holder with 627 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of over 148. With 566 runs in 9 matches at one time, he threatened to break Virat Kohli‘s record of the most runs (973) in a single season. However, the destructive English batter has managed only 61 runs in his last four games and it looks like King Kohli’s audacious record will stay intact.

Meanwhile, Jos Buttler has been teasing Yuzvendra Chahal to open the batting alongside him for a while now. Recently, Rajasthan Royals posted a video where Jos Buttler was bowling to Yuzi. Now, Chahal has joked that if he gets a chance to open the batting for the Royals, he will not only surpass Jos’s tally of runs but break Virat Kohli’s record.

“I will break every record” – Yuzvendra Chahal

In a conversation with ESPNCricinfo Chahal joked, “If I had a chance to open – Then I would have broken every record, not just Jos Buttler. I think even Virat Kohli bhaiya’s record [973 runs] is left for me only. I’m going to break that record. I will break that record in 10 matches only because in every match I have to score a hundred, no? (laughs).”

Meanwhile, with the playoffs spot almost sealed, Rajasthan Royals will hope their prime spinner keeps performing similar to the league stage. They will also want Jos Buttler to get back to his best ahead of the playoffs.
