Chennai Super Kings were dealt a massive blow after it was confirmed that Deepak Chahar will miss most part of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. The seamer sustained a quadricep tea during the third and final T20I against West Indies last month.

He was seen limping in pain during the dead rubber. His untimely injury saw him walk off the field. According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, Deepak Chahar might need a few more weeks to recover from the injury.

This means that he might miss the majority of the IPL 2022 season. The all-important IPL extravaganza will go all guns blazing on March 26, which means that there is a huge possibility that he may not feature in the tourney.

Chennai Super Kings are more worried about Deepak Chahar’s current status. The defending champions are awaiting a final report from the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore where the seamer is currently recuperating from the major injury.

Chennai Super Kings released the seamer ahead of the mega auction. However, they went all out for Chahar at the auction. The defending champions secured the services of Deepak Chahar for a whopping price tag of Rs 14 crore.

There are chances that Chahar might recover and participate in the latter half of the IPL. As a result, CSK wouldn’t seek a potential replacement. Now in this article, let’s take a look at three players who can replace him in the playing XI.

Rajvardhan Hangargekar is a productive young talent who has represented Maharastra in the domestic circuit. The 19-year-old Maharashtra-born lad has featured in Twenty20, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and List A cricket.

In December 2021, the youngster was named in India’s team for the 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in the West Indies. The young all-rounder registered himself at the IPL 2022 mega auction for his base price of INR 20 lakh.

Quite interestingly, the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings recruited his services for Rs 1.5 crore at the auction. He is a good pacer and can be handy with the bat as well. He can offer more batting depth and can also contribute alongside other experienced CSK bowlers.
