Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has asked the Indian selectors to groom Rishabh Pant as India’s future test skipper.

Citing MS Dhoni as an example, the Prince of the Indian cricket has picked the young wicketkeeper as the ‘right guy’ to lead India in Tests. The BCCI recently appointed Rohit Sharma as India’s skipper in all formats after Virat Kohli stepped down from the captaincy after the T20 World Cup.

As per the World Cup Winner, Rohit Sharma is not likely to serve India for a long period of time because of his age. And, It is time for India to groom their next skipper.

“You must get someone ready. Like Mahi became captain out of nowhere but they made him, right! Then he evolved. You pick a young guy who can be a future captain, give him time, and don’t expect miracles in the first six months or a year. I feel you must believe in the younger guys to get the job done,” Yuvraj Singh said on the Sports18 show ‘Home of Heroes’.

“I was immature at that age, and Virat was immature at that age when he was captain. However, he (Pant) is evolving with time. I’m not sure what the support staff thinks, but I believe he is the best candidate to lead the Test team.” Yuvraj Singh added.

The hero of two World Cup wins for India also talked about Adam Gilchrist and his impact in Test while comparison with Rishabh Pant.

“You already have four Test hundreds. In terms of best wicket-keeper batsman, I see Rishabh could be the future legend,” Yuvraj Singh concluded.

Rishabh Pant is already captaining Delhi Capitals in the IPL and honing his leadership teeth currently.
