WPL 2024: Aussie cricket star Alyssa Healy confronts a pitch invader with all her might

Alyssa Healy's team came out on top in the battle against MI Women.

Aussie cricket star Alyssa Healy made the headlines after she tackled a pitch invader during the WPL 2024 match between UP Warriorz and Mumbai Indians Women. It was an incident that became a major talking point on social media portals.

Fans breaching tight security and invading the pitch is not new in men’s cricket. However, for the first time, we witnessed a never-before-seen incident in women’s cricket where the pitch invader was spotted disrupting the play.

A local lad ran on to the pitch while carrying a jersey, which apparently looked like Royal Challengers Bangalore’s one. While the guy tried to steal the spotlight, UP Warriorz skipper Alyssa Healy tackled him with all her might.

Netizens praised Alyssa for channelizing her inner Andrew Symonds as she did the right thing to put the antics to a close. It is usually not a good sign when a fan comes on to the pitch because it not only halts the momentum of the game but also questions the sport’s integrity.

The game was halted for a while and once the ruckus got sorted out, the play resumed at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The pictures of the scenes spread like wildfire on social media channels.
