[Watch] Babar Azam perfectly emulates Virat Kohli’s rare shot in PSL 2024

Babar Azam is the leading run-getter of PSL 2024.

Peshawar Zalmi skipper Babar Azam made the headlines after he executed a strange shot against Islamabad United in PSL 2024. What really caught everyone’s attention was the manner in which he played the shot, which looked quite similar to Virat Kohli’s shot in the Asia Cup 2023.

One of the Babar Azam fans made a perfect edit, dedicating the video clip to the fans of the superstars, wherein he mentioned that both Virat Kohli and Babar Azam are now on the same page. The short clip shows both batters playing a similar shot, which gained traction on social media.

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli was the first to play that type of shot where he targeted Faheem Ashraf’s delivery between the gully and point for four runs. The right-handed batter did it by simply walking towards the off side to get into his comfort zone before playing the shot.

However, Faheem Ashraf tricked Virat Kohli by delivering a full-toss, which made it much easier for Kohli as he nudged it for a four. During the PSL 2024 match against Islamabad United, Babar Azam emulated Virat Kohli’s shot against the same bowler Faheem.

His spectacular century guided his team to 201/5 in their designated quota of 20 overs. On the other side of the coin, Islamabad United had their task cut out in the run-chase but their best efforts weren’t enough to get the job done as they fell short of the target.

Peshawar Zalmi had the last laugh in the tough battle as they won the game by 8 runs, despite best efforts from Azam Khan and Colin Munro as the duo scored 75 and 71 runs respectively for Islamabad United.
