[Watch] “Strike rate’s good too” – Simon Doull teases Babar Azam after his PSL century
Babar Azam is leading his side from the front.
Cricket-turned-commentator Simon Doull took a slight dig to praise Babar Azam following his century in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) match between Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Monday, February 26.
The Pakistan batter often faces criticism for batting with a slow strike rate in the T20 format. However, he was at his best on Monday night when he reached the three-figure mark to register his second PSL century ever.
Batting first, the Peshawar Zalmi skipper took on the opposition with his attacking approach. He smashed bowlers all around the park and scored an unbeaten 111 off just 63 with the help of 14 fours and two sixes. He maintained an astonishing strike rate of 176.19 throughout the innings.
In the post-match presentation, Doull cheekily praised Babar by saying, “Strike rate’s good too.” Notably, the former Kiwi cricketer slammed the batter last year on social platforms for playing selfish knocks.
Islamabad United felt eight runs short of the 202 target. While Colin Munro smashed 71 off 53 deliveries, Azam Khan raced to 75 in just 30 balls. However, the contributions weren’t enough to take the side over the line against Babar Azam & Co.

Skipper Babar Azam continues to be the leading run-getter of the season. He has already smashed 330 runs in five games, averaging 82.50 at a healthy strike rate of 151.38. He will be hoping to carry on the red-hot form and make this a memorable season.
