Mark Wood magical delivery to Kusal Perera

England have well and truly dominated the Lankans in the recently-concluded three-match T20I series. Sri Lanka were nowhere close to posting a threat to the English side as they lost a hat-trick of games. Thus, they were whitewashed by England in the T20I series.

It is indeed shocking to see Sri Lanka struggling to compete at the highest level. Earlier, they used to a formidable force to be reckoned with. However, after many great players retired from the sport, Sri Lanka lost its charm, elegance and determination to win games.

With the T20I series already coming to a close, both teams are busy playing the ODI series. The first ODI took place at the Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street in Durham. Talking about the game, England’s limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan won the toss and decided to bowl first.

The tourists were bowled out for just 185 inside 43 overs. The captain Kusal Perera was the best batsman as he chipped in with 73 off 81 balls including 7 boundaries at a strike rate of 90.12. Other than him, Wanindu Hasaranga also played well for Sri Lanka.

He managed to contribute 54 off 65 balls including 6 fours and 1 six at a strike rate of 83.08. Chris Woakes was the best bowler for the England cricket team as he took 4 wickets to his name.

England chased down the target in 34.5 overs and won the game by 5 wickets. Joe Root top-scored with an unbeaten 79 including 4 fours. Chris Woakes who bowled really well was named the man of the match.
